The exceptional Jacob William Collection: a unique chance to discover the variety of publications in Circus Arts.

Presentation

The goal of this program is to educate circus arts assistant instructors. These assistant instructors will be qualified to provide an initiation to various circus disciplines in the context of recreational activity.

ENC-ACT-DIS-JON_30rlCircus arts assistant instructors are able to find employment in many areas. These include: schools devoted to circus arts as recreational activity, municipal recreational facilities, day or vacation camps, or resorts that offer leisure activities. Instructors may also be called upon to animate after-school programs in educational facilities.

Upon graduating from the School, assistant instructors may further their professional development by enrolling in the Instructor (AEC-NRC.08) or in the Trainer in Circus Arts programs (AEC-NCR.09), receiving credit for the first 2 courses.

The program requires 180 hours (120 course hours and 60 in work internship), which are offered full-time over one semesters.

How to register

Requirements

  • High school diploma (DES) or equivalent
  • Has interrupted studies for at least one school year or has completed one year of post-secondary schooling
  • Has a functional knowledge of the French language, spoken and written

 

Candidate Selection
Admission to the program is limited. The School gives priority to candidates who are already employed in a circus school possess professional experience in circus arts or in performing arts or competitive sports or a relevant discipline.

 

Competency Exemption
A candidate selected may receive credit for previous training or professional experience acquired, conditional upon providing proof. The applicant must also pass an examination to be exempted from any given course.

 

Documents to enclose with admission application:

  • Application Form, completed and signed by the candidate (in French only)
  • General Questionnaire, completed and signed by the candidate (in French only)
  • Two passport-sized photographs (4 cm X 6 cm) signed on back by the candidate
  • A birth certificate
  • The most recent report card of secondary-school grades or, if necessary, the official transcript from the Ministry of Education attesting that a high school diploma (DES) or trade school diploma (DEP) or the equivalent has been obtained
  • If relevant, the most recent transcript of college or university grades (courses completed or non-completed)
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Any certificates or transcripts confirming participation in an artistic or sports-related pursuit, relevant to School requirements
  • A registered cheque, money order or bank draft in the amount of $30 CDN, payable to the National Circus School. These fees are non-refundable. Unregistered cheques will not be accepted.The applicant may opt to pay the participation fee via money transfer as long as proof of the transaction is submitted with the application form. Admission Procedures

Deadline to register for the fall semester: May 25, 2012
Applications must be received by the School or be postmarked by the deadline date at the latest, postmark providing proof of same.
