We were present at the birth of a veritable international circus festival, Montréal Complètement Cirque, held July 8 to 25. This inaugural event affirmed Montreal's unique place in the circus universe. Some 50,000 festival-goers attended 15 different shows held in 12 venues. A total of more than 200 artists took part in this great circuspalooza around the city. Among them were a large number of our students and graduates. For one, they contributed to the success of Cirque Éloize's latest creation, iD. Directed by Jeannot Painchaud (1992), it featured six graduate artists. And Les minutes cirque, an urban work by Antony Venisse (2001) counted several current students in the cast.
